A discussion on the origin of quantum probabilities

We study the origin of quantum probabilities as arising from non-boolean propositional-operational structures. We apply the method developed by Cox to non distributive lattices and develop an alternative formulation of non-Kolmogorvian probability measures for quantum mechanics. 2007-2013 European Union rural development policies

Las actuaciones de desarrollo rural llevadas a cabo en la Unión Europea han adolecido históricamente de una coherencia interna propia y se han ido incorporando al acervo comunitario como respuesta puntual a las necesidades de cada momento. La Política de Desarrollo Rural, que nace como segundo pilar de la PAC tras la aprobación de la Agenda 2000, supuso su formalización como tal pero su diseño, construido por la adicción de medidas dispersas, dista mucho de ser una política internamente construida. La nueva formulación aprobada para 2007-13 la consagra como un apéndice de la PAC, con escasos fondos, con serias incógnitas para su puesta en marcha y desarrollo aunque con una estructura y diseño más lógico y una gestión más simplificada.Historically any rural development initiatives undertaken by the European Union have lacked internal coherence and mostly have joined the European legal bodies on a case by case basis. The Rural Development Policy, born as a second basement to the CAP (Common Agriculturan Policy), was a formalizing effort but being designed as a set of sparce initiatives prevented it from succeeding as an internal, solid policy. Resistance to bleomycin increases the chronological life of cells

The identification of genes involved in chronological aging could have a potential utility as molecular markers in the chemotherapy treatment of cancer. Relationship between chronological aging and acquired resistance to cisplatin in the yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae

The Sir2 gene is associated with an increase in longevity in yeasts, worms, flies and rodents. The human homolog, Sirt1, is also involved in longevity, by inhibiting cellular senescence. Studies carry out in tumor cells of neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, breast and ovary, resistant and sensitive to antineoplastic drugs, suggest that the increase of Sirt1 expression may represent a general phenomenon associated with resistance to chemotherapy, independent of cell type or drug used to induce resistance. Thus, after analyzing tumor biopsies after treating patients with chemotherapy, high amounts of Sirt1 have been observed. Asymptotic optimality of degree-greedy discovering of independent sets in Configuration Model graphs

Finding independent sets of maximum size in fixed graphs is well known to be an NP-hard task. Using scaling limits, we characterise the asymptotics of sequential degree-greedy explorations and provide sufficient conditions for this algorithm to find an independent set of asymptotically optimal size in large sparse random graphs with given degree sequences. In the special case of sparse Erdös–Rényi graphs, our results allow to give a simple proof of the so-called e-phenomenon identified by Karp and Sipser for matchings and to give an alternative characterisation of the asymptotic independence number.Fil: Jonckheere, Matthieu Thimothy Samson. Intestinal microbiota and colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer may be influenced by changes in the intestinal microbiota that affect the mucosa and cause an immune response capable of producing inflammatory effects.
